Holiday bazaar fills fellowship hall
By Karen Larsen
The fellowship hall of The Federated Church was a bustling place on Dec. 4, the day of the annual Holiday Bazaar.
At the door, raffle tickets were sold for a range of items, including the last handmade carving set donated by Howard Snyder, who passed away this year, a food basket donated by Gert Snyder, Mariner’s tickets, gift certificates to local stores, and more.
Raffle tickets will continue to be available from Women’s Ministries members or at the Thrift Store until the drawing Dec. 19. Proceeds go to missions and local outreach.
Craftspeople, both members of the church and members of the larger community, displayed their wares on tables throughout the room.
One of these craftspeople, Roger Heiserman, had a table full of bowls, clocks and crafts decorated with used lariat rope. He said creating this artwork gives him something to do during the winter.
Other crafts included knitting, dried flower displays, garden sculptures and jewelry.
There was also a table set up with many beautiful holiday cookies. Community member Leslie Haynes was one of those who purchased from the selection, saying that it would save her from having to do holiday baking.
In the kitchen, members of Women’s Ministries were stirring pots of soup for those who would stay to lunch. Unfortunately, because of health department requirements, this could not be Gert Snyder’s homemade soup, as had been a long tradition.
Women’s Ministries member Shirley Daling said the day was very successful, with many people coming to mingle and purchase items.
