NW Cattle Report

MOSES LAKE (Dec. 10) — Feeder cattle this week: 4,100; last week: 4,000; last year: 1,000.

Compared to last week, feeder cattle steady to 1.00 higher. Trade slow to moderate with moderate to good demand. An interest or so started contracting for summer delivery. The feeder supply included 71 percent steers and 29 percent heifers. Near 100 percent of the run weighed over 600 lbs. Prices are FOB weighing point with a 1-4 percent shrink or equivalent and with a 5-10 cent slide on calves and a 3-6 cent slide on yearlings. Delivered prices include freight, commissions and other expenses.

FEEDER STEERS: Medium and Large 1-2 FOB prices: 650-700 lbs 108.00-114.00 ID-OR; 800-900 lbs 108.00-109.00 OR-WA. Future FOB prices: 800-850 lbs 109.00 for Mar WA; 900 lbs 108.00 for Jul-Aug OR; delivery delivered prices: 900 lbs 112.00 value added for Jun-July WA.

FEEDER HEIFERS: Medium and Large 1-2 FOB Prices: 750-800 lbs 104.00-110.00 OR-ID. Future delivered prices: 800-850 lbs 110.00 value added for Jun-July WA.

MOSES LAKE (Dec. 10) — Tonnage this week:8,268; last week: 15,000; last year: 2,790.

Compared to last week, all grades of hay steady in a light test. Utility rained-on Timothy hay has a definite lower undertone. Trade slow to moderate for light supplies of non rained-on hay, heavy supplies of rained-on hay. Retail/feed store/horse hay steady. Buyer demand good with light supplies.
