This 1929 photo shows the Palace Hotel and restaurant in Waterville. The hotel was operated by Mrs. Al Ira and the restaurant by Marie Hess. The child in the foreground is Charles C. Jones, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry R. Jones. Visible in the background at the left is the Baptist Church and parsonage.

E.C. Pitcher is building a residence south of Orondo.
W.W. Gillette has completed construction of a residence on his property at Orondo.

Twenty members of the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority met at the Elton Gordon ranch in Mansfield. Election of officers was held with Yvetta Snowden, president; Marguerite Llewellyn, vice president; Faye Dibble, corresponding secretary; and Ella Poffenroth, recording secretary. The group will hold their next meeting in Okanogan.

Commissioners from Douglas County Fire District 2 have decided to place a $2.5 million bond issue before East Wenatchee area voters Feb. 4. Fire Chief Ron Combs said the bond money would allow the fire district to acquire a new piece of property and build a new fire station, as well as purchase needed equipment. The existing fire station was constructed in 1946 and has been remodeled several times.
