Shockers: Game dribbled away in 3rd Q for girls

By Jim Rogers

The Waterville varsity girls’ basketball team’s loss to Liberty Bell on Dec. 11 was no shame.

“I am extremely happy with the girls,” said coach Kassie Ludeman. “They handled the ball well, pressed well and worked hard.”

The 43-34 loss was their first of the season after a forfeited game last week against White Swan. Waterville passed on the game while they mourned the death of a classmate at school.

Ludeman said the Shockers led at the half 13-9. The girls were rattled in the third quarter, and they let the game get away from them, she said. They couldn’t handle the press from Liberty Bell guards.

Alex Landon was a standout for the Shockers with 17 points and 12 rebounds. “She played a good game,” Ludeman said.
