A going away party for Douglas County Commissioner Mary Hunt Dec. 14 was well attended by county employees, elected officials, members of local entities, family and Republican party activists.

Hunt, who was defeated by Bridgeport mayor Steve Jenkins in the November election, had served as commissioner for twelve years, and was very active as an advocate for agriculture.

During her time in office, in addition to a variety of other projects, she saw through the renovation of the courthouse in Waterville and the construction of the 19th Street Douglas County Public Works building in East Wenatchee.

Hunt was given a framed version of the original architect’s rendition of the courthouse renovation project, with signatures of county employees on the border.

“It’s been a wonderful time. I’ve worked with wonderful folks. Douglas County is in good hands,” Hunt said.
