Gee. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday is Jan. 17. Town Hall will be closed and the Town Council meeting will be held on Jan. 18 at 7:30 p.m.
Haw. Waterville varsity basketball takes on Riverside Christian at the Waterville gym Jan. 7, then travels to Riverside Christian Jan. 8. Tip-off for both matches is at 6 p.m. for the girls and 7:30 p.m. for the boys.
Whoopityiyiyo. The pig has a reputation of good fortune. In agricultural areas, owning a pig was crucial to a family’s economic well-being. In Ireland a man who owned a pig was considered a gentleman, and in Germany the saying goes schwein gehabt (You had a pig). For the Chinese, the pig is a symbol of honesty and diligence. A pig statue in the home was a symbol of happiness, prosperity and good luck.
