Things To Do
This hump along the path of the Lincoln-Bross-Democrat “Triple Crown of 14ers” isn’t technically its own 14er because it doesn’t have enough of a separate summit from its neighbors to qualify. But if you’re doing the other three peaks, you pass over Cameron anyway, so why not count it? The trail climbs steeply on from the saddle between Mount Cameron and Mount Democrat then flattens out to what appears more like a plateau than a 14er. This is almost the geographical center of the Triple Crown; the knob of Mount Lincoln beckons in the distance and the slagheap that is Mount Bross fills the view to the right. This is the habitat of marmots and pikas. Little else can survive in this harsh climate. Catch your breath on the summit and keep moving. You have miles to go before you sleep.
