This 13,234-foot peak above Loveland Pass offers a great trail for year-round access to the higher terrain of the Rockies, without the aid of a ski lift. The trailhead is the top of the 11,990-foot pass, the highest year-round paved pass in the country. From the top of the pass, head east along a gentle ridge, which is wind-blown and often clear of snow in winter. Simply follow this for 1.75 miles up through the tundra to the summit. The first stretch is steep (1,000 feet of climbing in a mile), but it becomes more moderate after that. From the top you can see fourteeners Grays and Torreys peaks, several ski areas and the peaks beyond.
Pro Tips
Recommended season(s): Year-round (snowshoes or spikes may be needed in winter).
