Snow Finally on the Way to the Front Range

Another sunny, mild day is in store for Colorado Springs and the Pikes Peak region before the weather shifts toward wintry conditions.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, temperatures are projected to stay in the 50s on Wednesday with mostly sunny skies.
Colorado Springs could see a high near 54 degrees. The record for Dec. 13 is 69 degrees, set in 1988.
But a storm is forecast to move into the area Wednesday evening, possibly bringing in some snow Thursday. However, Gazette news partner KKTV said on social media that the “snowfall totals not looking overly impressive.”
KKTV predicts up to an inch of snow in northern El Paso and Teller counties.”Activity should wrap up for the morning commute Thursday, and into the midday for southern I-25,” KKTV said in a weather report. “A few rain/snow showers may linger into the afternoon. Highs will be MUCH colder, in the 30s and 40s.”

The last time Colorado Springs received measurable snow was Nov. 8, when an inch of snow fell, according to the Weather Service.
It last snowed in the Colorado Springs area on Nov. 17, but that storm left only a “trace” of snow, not enough to amount to measurable snow accumulation, said Mike Nosko, a Weather Service meteorologist.
The weather service also forecasts 2 to 6 inches of snow in the mountains.
