El Paso, Teller, Fremont, Pueblo and Custer counties, Colorado Springs police and Colorado State Patrol are on accident alert.

The agencies are asking those involved in a crash that doesn’t involve injury, drugs or alcohol or damage to public property to exchange information and submit a traffic accident report form.

A winter storm that rolled through the Colorado Springs area Monday night left many schools with delayed starts or even full closures Tuesday.

Falcon District 49 schools are closed Tuesday due to snow and ice left behind.

Colorado Springs District 11, Academy District 20 and Lewis-Palmer District 38 are among the many districts on two-hour delays.

Fort Carson, Peterson Air Force Base, Schriever Air Force Base, Air Force Academy and Cheyenne Mountain Air Station are on delayed starts.

For those headed to class, make sure to bundle up. The National Weather Service in Pueblo predicted a high of 19 degrees and a low of 4 degrees with a chance of flurries before 4 p.m. and a slight chance of snow showers between 4 and 5 p.m.

The possible light snow will fall on top of the couple of inches that accumulated Monday. The Colorado Springs Airport recorded one of the highest totals in the area, with 3.2 inches, followed by Monument with 1.5 inches, Ellicott with 1 inch and Pueblo with 0.9 inches.

Clouds are expected to clear during the day Wednesday, though not for long. The weather service forecast a high of 29 degrees and a low of 12 degrees with a 20 percent chance of snow Wednesday night into Thursday. Snow is expected to fall mostly between midnight and noon.

Thursday afternoon, the skies are predicted to clear, and temperatures are expected to reach above freezing, with highs in the upper 30s.
