Silver Creek Fire doubles in size, pre-evacuation orders issued

The Silver Creek fire continues to grow, now at a total acreage of 9,472. It has grown at least 4,500 acres in a single day, prompting pre-evacuation orders in several surrounding communities, including Old Park, Gore Lakes, Rabbit Ears Village, Bear Mountain Ranch, and Lake Agnes.

Evacuation orders have been issued at the Milk Creek State Wildlife Area, with evacuations of hunters and campers also taking place in surrounding forest land, including Latigo Guest Ranch and Yost Ranch.

This fire is located approximately 16 miles northwest of Kremmling. Smoke is visible in much of the surrounding area, including Grand County, Kremmling, and Steamboat Springs.
