Arapahoe Basin announces opening day for 2018-2019 ski season

In an extremely brief two-sentence post on Arapahoe Basin’s website blog, the Colorado ski resort announced that they’ll be opening on Friday, October 19. They’ll be operating Black Mountain Express with access to a run called “High Noon”, a blue run that makes its way down half of the mountain.

If you’re anxious to get your feet in ski boots, expect the ski hill to be open throughout the weekend, as well. Note that you’ll probably hit big crowds due to Arapahoe Basin’s inclusion on the Epic Pass , though you’ll be surrounded by the typical fun atmosphere found at Arapahoe Basin.

Weather expected to hit Arapahoe Basin this Friday and into the weekend should be much drier than last, with Saturday and Sunday looking like they’ll be sunny, reaching into the forties.

Previous blog posts have mentioned that Arapahoe Basin has been getting hit with a bit of snow, with more than a foot in some spots according to some sources. Granted, this week will have much less snowfall than last.

If you’re headed out to ski this weekend, be safe. Due to warm temps, crowds, and lack of open terrain, things will likely get icy and hazards will be everywhere. Use extra caution to prevent injury on what will likely exemplify the slick, crowded conditions typical of an infamous “white ribbon of death.”
