Snow closes roads in Rocky Mountain National Park

Rocky Mountain National Park remains technically open during the government shutdown but some access roads have been closed because of new snow.

Roads passable at the time of the shutdown were kept open but snow on Saturday and the lack of plowing because of the shutdown has led to the closure of park gates near the Beaver Meadows Visitor Center and near the entrances at Fall River, Wild Basin and Grand Lake.

The park says people can still access those areas by foot and bicycle but urged them to be careful since emergency services are limited.

Visitor centers are also closed at the park, the fourth most popular in the country.
