More snow to hit Colorado mountains this weekend

While this weekend most likely won’t bring historic snowfall that has been seen thus far this month, there will be snow in the Colorado mountains.

According to a report from OpenSnow, 6+ inches will be hitting the northeast mountains on Friday, followed by a dry Saturday before more snow comes in on Sunday. Sunday snow will continue into the night, but will likely bring just 1 to 5 inches to high-altitude areas of the state. Check out their full report for specific locations that will be getting snow during that storm.

OpenSnow’s top resorts for the next few days when it comes to powder includes Powderhorn (10 inches over the 5-day forecast), as well as a number of resorts in the area of the I-70 corridor like Breckenridge, Winter Park and Vail. Read their full in-depth report here.

Elsewhere around the state, Colorado Springs is expected to be in the 50s with rain on Friday and Sunday. Denver will likely be slightly warmer with rain on Friday and a dry Saturday and Sunday. On the Western Slope, Grand Junction will likely be in the 50s with rain on Friday and Sunday.

Current Colorado snowpack has soared above to-date averages. The southwest part of the state is at 162% of the average to-date pack. Everywhere in the state that has tracked snowpack is at least 125% above the to-date average.
