Lettuce snacks are what’s used for the giraffe feeding experience. According to Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, the giraffes also receive a daily diet of healthy grain, produce, and several pounds of green waste – also known as browse.

According to the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, giraffes are the world’s tallest living mammal. These peaceful, long-necked giants can reach heights up to 15-19 feet tall and weigh anywhere between 1,100 to 2,800 pounds.

Founded in 1926 by philanthropist Spencer Penrose, the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo sits at 6,800 feet in the heart of Colorado Springs and is home to over 750 animals representing more than 170 different species from around the world.

Exhibits include giraffes, Red River hogs, meerkats, African lions, Colobus monkeys, Grant’s zebra, vultures, Amur tigers, Pallas’ cats, snow leopards, wallabies, budgies, alligator, Rocky Mountain goats, moose, grizzly bear, mountain lions, and over 40 species of reptiles.
