John Hickenlooper dropped out of the presidential race Thursday, and Twitter has a lot of opinions.

There are numerous mentions of Hickenlooper possibly joining the Senate race against Sen. Cory Gardner, though Hickenlooper himself has not committed to that yet.

Some have praised Hickenlooper’s decision and said that other Democratic candidates should consider dropping out to run in the senate.

Many Twitter users have pointed out that the former Colorado governor’s 2020 campaign had not gained much traction at this point.

Meanwhile, late-night hosts Jimmy Fallon and Stephen Colbert roasted Hickenlooper for his lack of public recognition.

“Do you guys know about John Hickenlooper?” Fallon asked the audience. “Yeah, that’s part of the problem. He’s leaving the race — when he broke the news to all his supporters, they were like, ‘Cool, Dad, thanks for telling us.'”

Colbert praised Hickenlooper for his alleged plan to run against Gardner while cracking a joke.

“You see, finally a man willing to step up, put aside his ego, and do what is good for the country,” Colbert said. “That guy should run for president.”

It does appear some will miss Hickenlooper’s presence on the campaign trail.

If Hickenlooper does intend on running against Gardner, he certainly has supporters on Twitter.
