Fire near famous shooting range prompts mandatory evacuation in Colorado

A grass fire has sparked in Colorado Springs on a day with high fire risk due to low humidity, strong winds, and hot temperatures. The grass fire is located near Dragonman’s shooting range, which also happens to be home to a nationally-known military museum. It is unclear what sparked the blaze at this moment with more details to come.

According to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office, the fire is moving to the north and east, prompting mandatory evacuations for the area “east of Curtis and west of Slocum, south of Jones road and north of highway 94.”

The fire is located in the area of 1010 Blaney Road.

Smoke from the fire is highly visible in parts of the Colorado Springs area, though it is currently unclear how large this fire is.
