The Ice Castles will return to Town Park of Dillon, Colorado late December until early March for the 2019-20 winter season.

The Ice Castles are magical. In past years, soaring more than 30 feet into the air with fountains, tunnels, slides, colorful lights, and fire twirling performances. It’s truly a winter wonderland for all who visit.

While the award-winning attraction draws countless visitors every year to Summit County, Town Park suffered serious damage in 2018. The nearly 300,000 gallons of water used to construct this frozen playground melted off into the park, leaving behind erosion, water damage, and lots of trash. Ultimately, this made the park unavailable to the general public for several weeks into the spring months.

According to the Summit Daily, Dillon will be under a new contract that will outline protections to prevent damage, including a $10,000 damage deposit in case the park isn’t fully restored after the icy attraction debuts.

If you’re planning a visit to the Ice Castles this winter, dress for cold weather. The entire attraction is outside and it can get quite chilly come nightfall. It’s also important that you wear shoes that have some grip on the sole – there’s ice everywhere, often including some spots on the ground. It’s also important to be aware of your movements while touring the exhibit. Some sections can get tight and bumping into the ice can be painful.

If you can’t make it to Colorado, don’t worry! There’s more than one location. Last year, there were a total of six Ice Castles over the winter, including Dillon, Edmonton, New Hampshire, Excelsior, Lake Geneva, and Midway.
