Home destroyed, more threatened as Colorado wildfire reaches 5,824 acres
The Decker Fire burning south of Salida in the Sangre de Cristo Wilderness has grown to nearly 6,000 acres, with 458 firefighters on the scene.
As of Friday morning, the blaze has reached 5,824 acres with 5% containment. According to a report from CBS4 News, at least 1 home has already been destroyed.
Evacuation orders are currently in place for areas south of County Road 111 between County Road 104 and the west edge of Fawn Ridge Estates. This includes Methodist Mountain Estates, Boot Hill, Pinon Ridge Estate, Fawn Ridge Estates, Mountain Vista Village. Evacuations will remain in effect until at least Saturday due to increased fire risk including low humidity and strong winds.
At approximately 7 a.m. Thursday, the Type 1 Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team took over command of the fire.

The lightning-caused fire started on Sunday, September 8, 2019, at approximately 12:15 p.m. Full containment is expected by Friday, December 20, 2019.
There are multiple road closures around the Decker Fire area in Chaffee, Freemont and Saguache County. Please avoid the area and keep roadways clear for firefighters. For San Isabel Forest closures, click here.
