According to Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, a shooting occurred at 12:30 AM on Saturday at a desert party in the Grand Junction area. More specifically, the shooting occurred at an area known as “the dam” near 27 1⁄4 road.

Multiple victims and witnesses were identified, though no one was reported injured. The target of the shooting was trying to leave the area in a pick-up when shots were fired. A bullet went through the driver’s side mirror. After the shooting occurred, people left the scene. Authorities stopped 25 to 30 vehicles, contacting 60 to 80 people. Firearms were recovered on the scene.

One man was arrested and charged with Attempted Second Degree Murder, Attempted First Degree Assault, Felony Menacing, and Illegal Discharge of a Weapon.

The investigation is active.
