By late Wednesday night, mainly after midnight, snow showers will develop in the mountains and spread south to the Interstate 70 corridor. Snowfall is forecast to be 3 to 6 inches for areas north of Grand Lake and 2 to 5 inches for the central mountains. Snow showers will continue Thursday with frigid temperatures extending into the weekend.

Ahead of the storm, it will be windy and warm, which will create dangerous fire conditions across the majority of the state. Red flag warnings are in effect with gusty winds and low relative humidities over the northern, southern, and central mountains, high valleys, and the foothills in the southern Front Range. Conditions will be the worst along south of Interstate 70.
