Sharpen your skis and dust off those boards – it’s time to hit the slopes.

Keystone Resort will be opening this Saturday, October 12, for the 2019-2020 ski season – marking the earliest opening date the resort has seen in 20 years. Skiers and riders will be able to access the terrain at the top of Dercum Mountain to the bottom of the Montezuma Express lift and Schoolmarm, Silver Spoon and Last Chance via the River Run Gondola and Montezuma Express lifts, according to a report from the Denver Channel.

The race to open first spiraled after heavy snow fell across the state Wednesday evening into Thursday afternoon, delivering up to 10 inches at higher elevations. Despite all the chaos it caused along the roads, chilly temperatures and plenty of fresh powder created ideal snow-making conditions for ski resorts across the state.

Arapahoe Basin also teased that it will be opening soon after receiving more than a foot of snow from Wednesday into Thursday, October 9-10. The snow guns are fired up, stay tuned powder chasers!
