6+ inches of snow likely to bring hazardous conditions to Colorado

It’s beginning to look a lot like winter in Colorado, with more snow and strong winds on the way.

A winter weather advisory remains in effect until 9:00 p.m. Monday, with heavy snow showers bringing 2 to 7 inches and strong winds gusting up to 60 mph expected over the central and northern Colorado mountains.

Strong winds will continue throughout parts of the state into Monday evening, with significantly reduced visibilities expected with falling and blowing snow. Here’s a look at peak wind gusts seen from over the weekend.

Colorado’s central, northern, and southeast mountains are likely to see additional snowfall over the next several days, particularly over higher mountains and mountain passes.

According to  OpenSnow, the second big wave of snow hitting Wednesday evening into Thursday could bring snow accumulations of 2-6 inches to parts of the state.
