Lanes closed on I-70, lanes closed on iconic mountain pass in Colorado

The Colorado Department of Transportation has just announced that I-70 westbound lanes have been closed at mile marker 215 due to multiple spun out vehicles. Details about if there are injuries or when the lanes will reopen have not been released.

As heavy snow starts to fall across much of Colorado, bringing more than 20+ inches of snow to some areas, traffic issues have started to arise.

According to Colorado Department of Transportation, eastbound lanes of US 40 have been closed at mile marker 239 and mile marker 243 due to an accident. This is the portion of Berthoud Pass that passes Colorado Mines Peak, which is known for housing a number of towers at its 12, 506-foot summit. Berthoud Pass reaches a maximum altitude of 11,306 feet.

Here’s their depiction of where the accident occurred.
