Spanning 80 acres, the Denver Zoo houses 3,500 animals spanning 550 species. Roughly 2.2 million people visit the zoo annually.
Weather in the Denver area has been severe as a winter storm rolled through. Frigid temperatures coupled with heavy snow will likely continue into tomorrow as some parts of the state get up to 16 inches of snow. Colorado State Patrol encouraged employers to close early for the sake of the employees that could end up traveling on slick roads. A warning for several roads has already been released.
