The weather will be downright bone-chilling in parts of Colorado from Wednesday evening into early Thursday morning.
After nearly four consecutive days of heavy snowfall dropping up to 17 inches, the rest of the week is bringing a little more snow, bitterly cold temperatures, and gusty winds to parts of the state.
According to the National Weather Service, negative wind chills are likely Wednesday into Thursday morning as an arctic airmass remains over parts of the region, with some areas seeing wind chills in the negative double-digits and light snowfall accumulations of up to 2 inches. The coldest wind chills are expected to hit Walden (-23), Steamboat Springs (-5), Winter Park (-16), Castle Rock (-9), Colorado Springs (-12), and Denver (-3).
Wind chill values near -25 degrees means that frostbite can set in within 15 minutes. To minimize frostbite, bundle up and make sure all body parts are covered.

Actual air temperatures are expected to dip below zero in mountains towns and northern valleys, with single-digits to the low-teens for the central and southern valleys. There’s also a strong possibility of breaking previous record-low temperature records across the state.

It’s been an unusually frigid and snowy October for Colorado. Multiple ski resorts including Arapahoe Basin, Keystone, Loveland, and Monarch Mountain, kicked off the season ahead of schedule thanks to snow-packed slopes. Trick-or-treaters, plan ahead for a chilly evening. While Thursday afternoon temperatures will rise into the evening to the upper 40s in much of the state, you’ll still want to bundle up. Stay warm and have fun out there, folks!
