First COVID-19 related death occurs in Colorado

According to the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, the first COVID-19 related death in Colorado has occurred.

The death involved a female in her 80s and happened in El Paso County. She had underlying health issues prior to contracting the new coronavirus.

Polis responded with the following statement: “While we were expecting this day, it doesn’t make it any less difficult to hear and share this news. As a state we are in mourning and our hearts go out to the family and loved ones of the Coloradan we lost.”

The death reportedly occurred at Memorial Hospital Center in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
