As you likely already know, Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced a statewide ‘stay-at-home’ order that went into effect on Thursday morning. The announcement was met with a mixed reaction from the public, ranging from some that praised Polis’ strong approach toward slowing the spread of COVID-19 to others that questioned potential negative impacts of shutting down large portions of the state’s economy.
Here’s a quick look at a few public reaction examples below.
Gov Polis, what are you doing about rent? $1,200 won’t make it far for most of the impoverished families I work — Vapor Wyvern (@VeryFeministy) March 25, 2020
Very good move Governor and it’s the only way to address this runaway train. On a point of clarification, I wish the provision would state more explicitly that outdoor recreation, observing rules of course, would be permissible. It’s a sanity check in our state. Great work!👏 — JBS (@54JBS) March 26, 2020
Thanks for the epic mismanagement fueling hysteria and shortages. Not to mention unconstitutional. — Steven B (@trader197) March 26, 2020
You and the rest of the Governor’s can’t keep the lid on this for very long. You know it, and trying to keep people in line, with the promise of free money, isn’t going to work for very long either. — Stacey (@warriorCRACKER) March 26, 2020
Thank you Governor Polis! And thank you for saying you want to keep the people in Colorado alive. — kim o (@kmeeo) March 25, 2020
That’s the leadership I voted for. Thank you @jaredpolis — Rob Grimaldi (@cosmosrob1) March 25, 2020

This is a great way to have finacial stress related problems like addiction, overdose, and suicides skyrocket past the all time high where they already are at. I’m calling it, more deaths from suicide than corona in Colorado if you cut people off from their incomes. Just saying. — Chris Bones (@ChrisBonesCast) March 26, 2020
Without enforcement this order means nothing. They know that right? — Erik Feller (@djfellefell) March 26, 2020
