‘Emergency alert’ issued due to water supply disruption in Colorado mountain town
An emergency alert sent out Wednesday from the city of Glenwood Springs is asking residents not to use water until further notice due to a disruption to the raw water supply.
“ALL NON Essential water use should STOP immediately including irrigation for at least the next 24 hours, or until further notice,” Wednesday’s alert states, “If you do not absolutely need to use water, whether for drinking purposes or other, please do not.”
Residents will be notified when the restriction is lifted. The city also says some roads may be inaccessible in the area on Red Mountain Drive due to flooding.
An article published by the Post Independent indicates that a water break on Red Mountain Drive is what has caused the issue.
This is a developing story. More information will be added as it becomes available.
