Deceased man found on trail identified as missing photographer
According to the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office, a deceased male later identified as Conrad Earnest was found on a remote trail near Miracle Rock Campground in Western Colorado. This is also known as the Glade Park area, close to McInnis Canyons National Conservation Area and outside of Grand Junction.
The deceased’s body was found following the discovery of his vehicle at approximately 10:30 AM on Friday morning.
An afternoon press release identified the deceased man as a missing photographer named Conrad Earnest, of Grand Junction. Earnest has been missing since July 19 after leaving to photograph the NEOWISE comet. The search party that found Earnest was made up of officials and friends.
Earnest’s cause of death was later determined to be ischemic heart disease by the Mesa County coroner, confirming that there was no foul play.
Earnest was an avid photographer that specialized in night photography. Recently, he took a comet photo in the Grand Junction area that was featured by the Associated Press and the New York Times.
