Nine people, including two juveniles, were arrested Tuesday night for trespassing at the Denver Police Training Academy on Akron Way. The intentions of the trespassers are under investigation.

The group was spotted by Denver police officers about 9:30 p.m. The group had damaged a perimeter fence when entering the grounds and defaced signs on the property before being stopped by the officers.

Six vehicles associated with the trespassers were impounded for further investigation. Police are looking into whether additional suspects were involved.

“Reckless efforts to harm people and property in our city are inexcusable and will not be tolerated,” Denver Police Chief Paul Pazen said in a statement.

This comes at a time when tensions between citizens and police forces are high. Numerous anti-police protests have occurred in Denver in recent months in response to the national outcry against police brutality.

“If Denver residents have concerns and/or ideas about the future of policing in Denver, we encourage them to contact us and engage in productive dialogue,” Pazen said.

Those arrested were:

• Jonathan Vogel, 18: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass and possession of burglary tools.
• Rosemary Rianoshek, 19: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass.
• Janette Steedley, 36: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass.
• Richard Gonzales, 30: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass.
• Christina Gatlin, 29: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass.
• Benjamin Behrman, 20: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass.
• Lukas Leatham-Simbeck, 19: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass.
• Juvenile: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass.
• Juvenile: Investigation of second-degree criminal trespass and possession of burglary tools.
