DMV launches driver’s license design contest
Gov. Jared Polis announced the Department of Motor Vehicles’ Iconic Colorado art contest during a news conference Thursday. The contest aims to find a new design for Colorado driver’s licenses and identification cards.
“We want to do better,” Polis said, referencing the current state driver’s license design.
The competition is open to all artists who live or study in Colorado. Minors require parental consent to participate.
“Transform our driver’s license or identification card into a real work of art that all Coloradans can be proud to carry wherever they go,” Polis said.
The competition is free to enter and requires original artwork including, in part, graphic design, painting, drawing, photography and print-making. Watermarks and objectionable content, including political material, are not permitted.
The new design will debut in July. The winner’s name will be featured on all Colorado identification credentials in micro text.
Entry forms and details are available at iconiccolorado.org. The competition closes at 5 p.m. on Sept. 30.
