At least four people were detained by Denver police during Wednesday night’s protests regarding the lack of charges against officers who killed Breonna Taylor.
Police announced Thursday that 52-year-old Allan Cutler was arrested for obstruction of a street. Joseph Miller, 33, and Coy Jones, 27, are also being held for investigation of the possession of prohibited large-capacity magazines.
DPD said Cutler and Miller were present where the protest was taking place but they have no information regarding whether the two were protesters or counter-protesters.
A fourth man was detained Wednesday night after driving his vehicle through a group of protesters in front of the Colorado State Capitol building.
Police said no injuries were reported. The Denver Post reported that at least one person was hit but she was not badly hurt.
The driver was detained by Denver police immediately following the incident at the intersection of Colfax Avenue and Broadway. It is unclear what charges the driver will face. DPD offered no information on the charges or identification of the driver.
Denver Mayor Michael Hancock commented on the driver during a Thursday press conference, calling it a “tough situation.”
“It did not look good on video and I certainly understand that but we gotta allow for all the details to be made public before we pass judgment,” Hancock said. “We gotta not assume that every driver is listening to the radio or is aware that a certain protest is occurring.”
