I-70 to close at Colorado Boulevard Thursday night, Friday morning
Eastbound and westbound Interstate 70 will be fully closed at Colorado Boulevard from Thursday at 10 p.m. to Friday at 5 a.m.
The closure is to set bridge beams for the new Colorado Boulevard bridge above I-70.
If work is not completed on schedule, a second closure will be implemented from Friday at 10 p.m. to Oct. 3 at 5 a.m.
The northbound Colorado Boulevard on-ramp to westbound I-70 will also be closed both nights. All other ramps will remain open.
The construction is part of the Colorado Department of Transportation’s Central 70 Project.
As a detour, drivers traveling on westbound I-70 should go west on Interstate 270, then go west on Interstate 76, continue south onto Interstate 25 and exit onto westbound I-70.
Drivers traveling on eastbound I-70 should go north on I-25, then go east on I-76, continue east on I-270 and exit onto eastbound I-70.
As an alternate route for the northbound Colorado Boulevard on-ramp to westbound I-70, drivers should use 46th North Avenue to access the westbound I-70 on-ramp at Steele/Vasquez.
The construction work is weather dependent and subject to change.
