One injured in early morning shooting near Newlon Elementary School

A shooting in Denver’s Barnum West neighborhood left one man injured, the Denver Police Department announced Friday.
The shooting happened in the 4500 block of West 2nd Avenue, blocks away from Denver’s Newlon Elementary School, police said. DPD announced the shooting at 6:20 a.m.
The victim, an adult male, was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The victim’s identity and status have not been released.
There is no suspect information at this time. Police said investigators are working to gather information surrounding the suspect and circumstance of the shooting.
Anyone with information about this crime is asked to contact Metro Denver Crime Stoppers at 720-913-7867. Tipsters can remain anonymous and are eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.
