Clear Creek courthouse limits operations after COVID-19 exposure

Court and Law

The Clear Creek County courthouse is limiting its operations after a deputy district attorney tested positive for COVID-19 Monday.

The courthouse will only provide essential functions until Oct. 14, as decided by Chief Judge Mark Thompson and the Clear Creek County Department of Public Health.

“In the interest of public safety, all jury trials and most other in-person hearings are now postponed until further notice,” Thompson said.

Anyone scheduled to be in court before Oct. 14 is asked to contact their attorney or the Clerk of Court’s Office to receive a new court date.

In addition to suspending most operations, the courthouse is also tracking down those who may have made contact with the attorney.

The attorney worked a criminal docket on Sept. 29 in the Clear Creek County courthouse. The court is working to notify all individuals in the courtroom where the attorney was present and advise them to quarantine for 14 days.

The attorney is being quarantined as of Monday, the state judicial department said.

Anyone who appeared in court on Sept. 29 is asked to contact the Clerk of Court at [email protected] or 303-569-0820.
