Denver to hold community meetings addressing I-25 vehicle congestion

Denver will host two community meetings beginning this week to discuss strategies for addressing vehicle congestion around Interstate 25 and Belleview Avenue.

The virtual meetings, led by the city and county of Denver, will present results from recent analyses of reconfiguration strategies.

Strategies include making a signalized intersection at I-25 and Belleview Avenue to control vehicles exiting and entering the highway, adding on- and off-ramps for I-25 at Union Avenue or taking no action.

The first meeting will be held on Wednesday at 6 p.m. At this meeting, the public will learn about the three strategies and the analyses conducted.

The second meeting, on Oct. 21 at 6 p.m., will allow the public to express their opinions and priorities for transportation.

Residents must register online to attend each meeting.

A committee will evaluate the results of the analyses and the community feedback to determine the next stages of the vehicle congestion project in the coming week.

The study was funded by Denver, Greenwood Village, Arapahoe County and Denver South Transportation Management Association.

The project is in coordination with the Cherry Hills Village, Regional Transportation District, Denver Regional Council of Governments, Colorado Department of Transportation and Federal Highway Administration.
