State health department adds testing lab to improve COVID-19 data reporting
The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment anounced it is adding another large testing site to its electronic laboratory reporting system.
Officials say that 90% of the state’s cases are reported through electronic reporting and switching labs from manual entry improves efforts in combating the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
As the Biodesix lab — one of the largest working with the state on its pandemic response — joins the system, additional tests that have been reported to the state health department, but have not been entered, yet will be added onto the state’s data dashboard.
According to a news release, 9,000 tests and approximately 105 cases have been reported, but not entered into the system.
Because of the additional data, officials warn that some counties could be impacted on the state’s COVID-19 dial status.
“CDPHE has notified affected counties and local public health providers (about these changes),” the release read.
Health officials said in the release that other labs are transitioning from manual reporting to electronic, and will continue to alert the public as these changes occur.
