Cherry Creek School District to go completely remote learning
Officials from the Cherry Creek School District announced Thursday that students will transition to full-remote learning.
Thursday was the ninth consecutive day where the district’s COVID-19 tracker indicated the district was in a “red zone.”
According to the district’s tracker, 126 students and staff members had tested positive for the virus, while 1,177 students and staff are in quarantine because of possible exposure.
Gradual transition to full-remote learning varies depending on the age group.
Middle and high school students will switch on Nov. 11. Elementary and pre-school students will begin on Nov. 16, according to a release sent to families in the district.
“I do not take the decision to switch to remote learning lightly,” superintendent Scott Siegfried said. “I have said from the beginning that the data will determine whether we have in-person or remote learning, and the data has clearly shown a sustained trend of concerning numbers.”
The district has been operating in-person for the past 11 weeks, and officials said they hope this switch is temporary.
