Arvada to become a Winter Wonderland to support local businesses
As the temperatures drop and Christmas gets closer each day, Old Towne Arvada is embracing the title “Winter Wonderland”
Some streets will be closed and holiday lights and decorations will shrine throughout the night. Visitors can shop, drink, or even skate at an synthetic ice rink during the Winter Wonderland, which will run from Nov. 27 through Dec. 24, in an effort to get consumers to support local businesses.
All while social distancing and following COVID-19 mitigation guidelines.
“While we continue to monitor the evolving situation and take steps to support the guidelines of public health agencies, the Olde Town Arvada (Business Improvement District) and the City of Arvada know it is critical to continue to do everything possible to support small businesses during this time,” said Joe Hengstler, Executive Director of the Olde Town Arvada BID in a news release.
“We want to give the public every opportunity to social distance and be safe while continuing to frequent their favorite Arvada businesses.”
The Arvada Resiliency Task Force and The Olde Town Arvada BID are hosting the event and are responsible for transforming the area into a child’s holiday dream.
Everyone at the Winter Wonderland is required to make an online reservation, wear a mask at all times and practice social distancing.
Officials say they 12 people are allowed at the ice rink at a time, while high-touch areas throughout the mini-North Pole will be sanitized every hour.
A Holiday Pop-Up Market will be onsite where local businesses can sell their products to the visitors.
“It is our hope that these additional Holiday Pop-Ups will give our businesses the opportunity to both gain greater visibility, and allow customers to safely shop in an outdoor, open air environment.” said Hengstler.
