Douglas County launches $15 million grant program for restaurants and indoor event venues
In a response to Douglas County moving to Safer at Home Level Red on Friday, county officials announced a $15 million grant for restaurants and indoor event venues.
Due to a recent surge of COVID-19 cases throughout the state, Douglas County transitioned into Level Red on Friday, which prohibits indoor dining, closes movie theaters and arcades, while also shrinking capacity on retail stores, fitness centers and places of worship.
The $15 million grant is funded through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act, and any restaurant or indoor event venue within the county and has 200 or fewer employees are eligible.
Applications will be taken from Dec. 1 through Dec. 30 and the money will be distributed on a first-come, first served basis, according to the media release.
Grant amounts will be based on total impact caused by COVID-19 and revenue loss.
