Ambulance

A pedestrian who was struck by a vehicle Friday night has died, according to officials from the Denver Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of an accident involving a motor vehicle and pedestrian at 38th Avenue and Alcott Street northwest of downtown at 8:16 p.m. Friday, said Nate Magee, a public information officer for the department.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital and was pronounced dead later Friday.

Through the initial investigation Magee says the vehicle was traveling west on 38th Street when it struck the man.

He added that the driver and passenger of the vehicle were cooperating with authorities, and drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have played a role in the crash.

The investigation is ongoing.
