Injured 59-year-old hiker rescued from Boulder’s Rabbit Mountain
A 59-year-old female hiker was rescued Saturday from Boulder’s Rabbit Mountain after injuring her ankle, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office announced.
The woman and her husband were hiking in Rabbit Mountain Open Space when they lost the trail at the top of a steep ravine, officials said.
The pair attempted to walk down the ravine when the woman slipped on an area of loose rock and rolled her ankle. They contacted the Boulder County Communications Center for help at 3:15 p.m.
Officials from Lyons Fire Protection District, American Medical Response and Open Space and Mountain Park located the woman and provided medical care.
Members of Rocky Mountain Rescue Group evacuated the woman and she was transported to a local hospital by ambulance.
The rescue took approximately two hours.
