The city and county of Denver released an announcement Monday, warning Coloradans of a new phone scam circulating that claims to be from the Denver Sheriff’s Office.
Officials said the callers have been posing as deputies from the Denver Sheriff’s Office, demanding payment for fake warrants. The callers sometimes provide alleged court dates.
Denver deputies will never demand money or make contact over the phone, officials said.
Anyone who receives this phone scam is asked to report it to the Denver Police Department and the Colorado Attorney General’s Office at stopfraudcolorado.gov.
Concerned parties can check for existing warrants by calling 720-337-0464.
