Brian Townsend was charged with first-degree murder Monday for the death of Fort Collins resident Adam Clouser, the Fort Collins Police Department announced Tuesday.
Clouser, 30, was discovered the morning of Nov. 21 when a passerby found his body outdoors in the 800 block of North College Avenue, near Lee Martinez Community Park. Officials described the body as “obviously deceased.”
An autopsy identified the body as Clouser and determined the cause of death to be multiple stab wounds.
An investigation concluded that Townsend, 35, and Clouser got into an argument on the afternoon of Nov. 19. During the argument, Townsend fatally wounded Clouser and fled the area. Police said they believe the two men knew each other.
“Our detectives worked nonstop to gather evidence and locate the suspect in this case,” police Chief Jeff Swoboda said. “While nothing can reverse the devastating impact of violent crimes like this, we remain committed to seeking justice and finding answers for families.”
Townsend is being held at the Larimer County Jail.
