State: Most Colorado businesses are following COVID-19 protocols

State surveys and inspections show the majority of Colorado businesses are following COVID-19 protocols, the Department of Revenue announced Wednesday.

Of 204 inspections conducted over Thanksgiving week, only two businesses received suspensions over dangerous conditions, the department said.

“Most Colorado businesses are doing their part by following COVID-19 state and local protocols, because they know that we can and will get through this together,” Gov. Jared Polis said.

5 Douglas County restaurants forced to close for serving customers indoors

Counties under Level Red regulations face significant business restrictions, including no indoor dining, events or entertainment, a 10% capacity limit for offices and a 10% or 10-person-per-room capacity limit for gyms.

State agencies contact regulated entities if a public health violation has been reported.

Though enforcement usually starts at the local level, the state has been issuing cease-and-desist orders and temporary suspensions of business licenses.

“When a business cuts corners on safety and freeloads on others, it hinders our entire state’s ability to suppress this deadly virus and undermines our shared goal of bouncing back stronger than before,” Polis said.
