Ronald Eugene Williams, 49, was arrested Friday in Superior after officials discovered more than 8,000 images and videos of child sexual exploitation on his devices, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office announced Monday.
Williams was charged with six counts of sexual exploitation of a child, including possession with intent to distribute. As a class 3 felony, each charge carries a potential prison sentence of four to 12 years and a fine of $3,000 to $750,000.
The Sheriff’s Office and Boulder County Computer Forensics Lab first searched Williams’ home in the 200 block of Mohawk Circle on Nov. 18.

Officials from the Internet Crimes Against Children had received a tip that illegal internet activity relating to child exploitation was happening within the residence from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
An examination of Williams’ electronic devices found that he was using anonymous chats and a dark web browser to conduct his illegal activity, deputies said.

Williams often posed as a single mother when distributing and receiving illegal images with other users, according to deputies.
Officials said they do not believe Williams victimized any members of the Superior community based on interviews and investigation.
