Lakewood PD investigating deadly afternoon shooting

A woman shot on Lakewood’s north side Tuesday afternoon was pronounced dead several hours later as police continue to search for her killer.
Lakewood Police Officers responded to a call about a gunshot wound near a Safeway in the 9100 block of West Colfax Avenue shortly before 1:30 p.m., according to a press release.
Officers located a wounded woman and immediately began life saving measures before she was transported to a nearby medical facility where she was pronounced dead.
The victim’s identity is not being released at this time.
Authorities believe the incident was “isolated” and there is no threat to the public.
The investigation is ongoing.
