Colorado has the fourth-least Christmas spirit in the country, study finds

Christmas Spirit map

This year, Colorado ranked 47th in the country for having the most Christmas spirit, making it one of the least-spirited states, according to a survey from GetCenturyLink.

The COVID-19 pandemic seems to have taken a significant toll on the state as, last year, Colorado ranked much higher at 29th.

The only states less spirited than Colorado this year are New Mexico, Hawaii and Florida — and the District of Columbia.

The top three states with the most holiday cheer were Utah, Idaho and Wisconsin.

To rank Christmas spirit, the study analyzed Christmas tree farms per capita, charitable giving, streams of Christmas music, tweets about Christmas and online searches for Christmas movies, gingerbread houses, wrapping paper, cards, ornaments and elf on a shelf.
