A 29-year-old woman was arrested Saturday morning after Wheat Ridge police say she allegedly struck a woman while driving under the influence and fled the scene.
Authorities responded to a report of an unwanted person at a business in the 4700 block of Kipling Street in Wheat Ridge at 7 a.m. Saturday.
When officers arrived, they saw Ashley A. Alvarez “get into a running car, not hers, and strike a bystander who was trying to stop the car,” the department posted on social media.
The female victim, who police said was a clerk at the business, was transported to a nearby medical facility with serious injuries.
Officers pursued Alvarez and were able to apprehend her after a short pursuit at West 64th Avenue and Pecos Street.
Currently, she is being held at the Jefferson County Jail and is suspected of a DUI and faces multiple charges including first-degree aggravated motor vehicle theft, vehicular assault DUI or DUID, vehicular eluding and violation of a pending protection order, officials said.
